Applying Medical Science to a Hitter’s Swing | 01.19.10

Owner of Athletes’ Training Center, Travis Manners, had the privilege of working with the famous “Blind Hitting Guy”, Mark Wetzel.  They are working to apply medical science to Wetzel’s successful method of teaching baseball players how to efficiently swing with more velocity and power.  They are in the process of creating a video to share the medical science behind the swing.

Successful Baseball Screening | 01.13.10

For all baseball fans, Major League Baseball (MLB) Opening Day can’t come any sooner.  But, they are going to have to wait until April 5th.  However, before that first game happens all MLB players have to report to Spring Training.  So, the staff at Athletes’ Training Center took  the initiative last Saturday, January 9th, to kick-off Spring Training in Omaha with a Free Screening for all local baseball players.  Our physical therapy staff assessed over a dozen players while our sport performance coaches taught each individual corrective or preventive ex

Rachael Granville Scores 19 for Platteview's First Win of the Season | 01.08.10

Rachael Granville, junior point guard, scored 19 points to bring Platteview from behind for the first win of the season.  It proved to be an exciting game with a tied score at the end of each quarter.  Platteview defeated Conestoga with a final score of 47-44 in overtime.

FREE Pre-season Baseball Injury Screen | 01.04.10

Soon baseball players will be reporting for pre-season throwing workouts and it won’t be too long before the season is in full swing.  Many throwers will see their hard work pay off, but unfortunately others will see the disabled list.  In an attempt to prepare athletes for a safer season, Athletes’ Training Center is offering a free injury screen for baseball players of all age.  Athletes and their parents are invited to visit the facility between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 9th to receive a comprehensive free injury screen.

Families Spend Active Time Together at Family Fun Day | 12.11.09

On Saturday, December 5th from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Athletes’ Training Center hosted the first Family Fun Day.  The morning included fun, family interactive relays, games and other activities, lunch and prizes.  There was no cost to participate in the event.

Henry and Hauder Put Career-Highs in the Score Book | 12.10.09

Abby Henry and Emily Hauder both play for the Northwest Missouri State women’s basketball team and both trained at Athletes’ Training Center this past summer.  According to press releases from the school, both have had career-high games recently. 

A Busy But Thankful November | 11.30.09

Among having a booth at the Woodmen’s Health Fair, meeting with the Omaha Asperger’s Support Group, attending the Papillion South High School Health Sciences Career Fair & Expo and speaking at the Creighton Prep High School Career Day, the staff at Athletes’ Training Center have been busy with stepping out and getting more involved in the community this month. 

Family Fun Day | 11.24.09

Saturday, December 5th from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Athletes’ Training Center is hosting their 1st Family Fun Day.  The morning will include FUN (and lots of it), family interactive relays, games and other workouts, lunch and PRIZES!  There is no cost to participate in the event.

High School Football Combine | 06.19.09

We are hosting a high school football combine on July 25 and 26. Junior and Senior football players from around the area will have the chance to share their competitive spirit in a fun, recreational setting as they complete testing similar to an NFL combine.  All players, regardless of position or school, are encouraged to test their skills in the following areas: 10 yard sprint, vertical jump, 3-cone drill, bench press repetition test, broad jump, and Pro agility. A rating will be assigned based upon test performance and all results will be released to their high school
